The TRN Labs Hackathon is calling all builders. Whether you’re crafting onchain games, designing intelligent agents, or unlocking new DeFi flows — this is your chance to build what’s next on The Root Network (TRN).
With a powerful dev stack and $10,000 USD in prizes (paid in $ROOT), this hackathon is your opportunity to showcase how the open metaverse gets built.
Track 1: TRN Game Forge
Gaming is more than entertainment — it’s one of the most powerful onboarding tools in Web3. The Game Forge track is all about exploring what happens when true ownership, seamless UX, and composable assets collide.
With The Root Network’s gas-in-any-token fee model and FuturePass wallet integration, game loops become smoother, rewards more meaningful, and digital items fully owned by players. You could build a loot-based battler that rewards players in TRN tokens. Or imagine a card game where decks are made up of tradable NFTs. Cross-chain integration is encouraged — especially if you can show how TRN and XRPL assets work together inside a shared gameplay loop.
Submissions will be judged not just on creativity, but on practical metrics like forecasted daily active players, volume of in-game transactions, and the quality of your on-chain reward mechanics. Plug-and-play integration via the Sequence SDK (for Unity or Unreal) makes it easier than ever to go from idea to prototype.
Track 2: TRN Intelligence
As the age of autonomous agents unfolds, the TRN Intelligence track invites you to build for a future where bots, NPCs, and logic-driven apps live natively on-chain. TRN’s infrastructure is uniquely suited for agentic applications, with substrate-level support for persistent logic and verifiable interactions.
You might create a no-code builder that lets users spin up their own onchain agents. Or perhaps your vision leans toward AI-powered DeFi tools — a copilot that manages staking, swaps, or vault strategies on behalf of a user. For those in gaming or world-building, NPCs powered by the NFI pallet and Sylo’s query infrastructure can enable persistent behaviors that evolve over time.
Judges will look for the volume and value of AI-initiated transactions, as well as how creatively you’ve implemented the network’s native agent tools — including the NFI pallet and Futureverse’s AI stack (Jen, Altered State, Meme Machine). This is the track where code becomes character.
Track 3: RootFi
Finance is the connective tissue of Web3, and RootFi is your opportunity to design new liquidity layers, staking flows, and economic systems that benefit more than just DeFi. This track encourages you to build infrastructure that serves games and agents — not just traders.
Imagine creating a liquid staking solution for $ROOT that feeds directly into an onchain game’s reward pool. Or a quest-based LP incentive program where liquidity providers earn NFTs and XP, not just yield. TRN’s native DEX pallet and XRPL bridge offer foundational tools to bring this to life, while the any-token gas system enables more flexible UX across token types.
Projects will be evaluated based on TVL, user participation, and how effectively they connect financial flows across verticals. Cross-utility is a big bonus here — the best RootFi projects won’t just serve DeFi users, they’ll power the entire TRN ecosystem.
