The Root Network is expanding. So is the future of fan engagement.

Futureverse, core developer of The Root Network, has announced its acquisition of Candy Digital — a next-gen fan experience platform home to iconic IP including Major League Baseball (MLB), Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Getty Images, and DC Comics.

This acquisition brings a new wave of premium content and fan communities to The Root Network, paving the way for AI-powered, on-chain entertainment that prioritizes ownership, interoperability, and immersive experiences.

“Brands like MLB and DC Comics already sit at the intersection of digital and real-world fandom,” said Futureverse Co-Founder and CEO Aaron McDonald. “By bringing them into Futureverse’s ecosystem, we can leverage our technology to enhance brand loyalty and create immersive experiences across The Root Network.”

Candy’s expansive content library, including more than 4 million digital collectibles and over 1.5 million user accounts, will now be integrated into The Root Network. A longtime leader in bridging physical and digital fandom, Candy will now tap into the full capabilities of Futureverse and The Root Network’s AI, metaverse, and blockchain infrastructure.

As digital interaction becomes the norm, brands are under increasing pressure to stand out in a fragmented media landscape. The Root Network offers protocol level infrastructure for creative rights, asset interoperability, and secure AI integration. Giving IP holders full control over how their assets are used, monetized, and evolved.

“Candy has always combined emerging technology with purpose-driven design,” said Matt Novogratz, Co-Founder and SVP at Candy Digital. “Joining Futureverse and The Root Network gives us the infrastructure to bring that vision to life at scale.”

Candy’s integration into The Root Network brings new utility to existing digital assets and opens fresh possibilities for interoperable gameplay, digital ticketing, fan rewards, and more. Backed by leading investors including Galaxy Digital, ConsenSys Mesh, 10T Holdings, and Microsoft, Candy Digital’s arrival strengthens the ecosystem and accelerates the evolution of open digital fandom.

As The Root Network continues to grow, this milestone reaffirms its role as the foundational layer for the next era of interactive, intelligent content — where fans truly own their experience and brands can build with confidence in the open metaverse.
